Hmmm.  The story is getting kind of angsty now.  It fits their situation, but still, not a lot of fun to watch them go through.  I am hoping that they figure it out before too long.

Another good chapter.  I actually like the backstory, so don't be shy with it.  At least you've established the history with their parents, and left it open for the future.  Sometimes, the "died in a freak accident" trope is a little too convienent.

You hit some really decent point this time.  I think my favorite is how you established that Anna's feeling started changing with the dress.  Keep em coming!

My bad!  I guess I will put on my glasses next time!  Thanks for the clarification.  I think it probably makes more sense in the early fifties as opposed to getting close to the relatively progressive sixties.

Author's Response:

It's cool. But yeah, the big problem is that means that ww2 starts when Elsa is nineteen, so... Have fun with the next chapter <3

Wow. This chapter took a "cute" little short story and turned it into an excellent story that I want to see a lot more of. This chapter added a lot of depth overall, and didn't force us to sit through two years of angst following Anna's confession.  I was actually kind of glad about that.  I also loved how much each girl was willing to sacrifice to make the other happy.

On a side note, I did the math on Elsa and Anna. You established that Anna was ten years old in 1934. In Chapter 1, you mentioned that they were watching I Love Lucy, which started in 1957.   So, at a minimum, Anna is 33 and Elsa is 36.   Is that about right?  It feels about right.

Author's Response:

From what I've checked, I Love Lucy started in 1951. They're 30 and 28. Elsa was born in 1921 and Anna was born in 1924.

Well, this is a different premise.  Kind of interesting, although I can't believe there is any world where Elsa could pass as a man.  If I let that go, then the story becomes kind of fun.   I loved all the grabby housewives.  If only they knew!

I look forward to seeing where you take this.
